For today, we are picking apart a brand: Herbivore. I’ve done this before with Drunk Elephant, and I’m excited to give you the must have products along with the skippable ones…if there are any…
- Bakuchiol Retinol Alternative, 1 oz. $54
I love that they offer a 100% natural, plant based retinol product. Retinol is one of the most powerful skincare ingredients and can be used for a multitude of concerns. I have used this on and off for about 3 months. I absolutely love the smell and consistency. It is smooth and non greasy, and has a fresh scent that feels luxurious. I have not used other retinol products before, so I can not compare personally. It definitely helped to resurface the skin and was not too strong that it irritated my skin. If you are looking for a good plant based option, this one is for you. It is super powerful and great for the skin!
2. Emerald CBD + Adaptogens Deep Moisture Glow Oil, 1 oz. $58
I have been using this oil for around 7 months, and probably have a 1 month supply left. I am in LOVE with this face oil. I recommend this for all ages, all skin types. The CBD helps to calm my redness naturally (refer to my CBD in skincare blog if you need a refresher on how this works), and I get the most amazing glow and hydration. I put this on last during my night routine and it seals in all my skincare and I always wake up looking refreshed. I have definitely noticed a change in my skin since starting the use of this oil! Totally worth the price, you won’t be disappointed.
*they also offer a Deep Moisture Glow Oil that does not include the CBD, but instead utilizes hemp seed oil (1 oz $48). You still get the hydration and glow, but will see less benefits of reducing inflammation and calming that benefits from CBD.
3. Herbivore Lapis Balancing Facial Oil, 1.7 oz $72
This oil is targeted towards those with large pores, redness, and/or acne breakouts. I have been using this occasionally over the last 3 months and it definitely does help diminish breakouts over night. The blue tansy and kukui nut oil help to purify, but it is also filled with plenty of hydrating ingredients such as jojoba and squalane oil. I would recommend this as a good, natural option for those with breakouts and also need added hydration. Do not be scared of oils if you have breakouts! They often can help to balance the skin better than other moisturizers.
4. Prism 12% AHA + 3% BHA Exfoliating Glow Serum, 1 oz $54
I’ve been using this for the past 3 months, usually every other night and wow. This product seriously works! I know you can’t deny the power of a strong chemical exfoliant, but this doesn’t dry my skin or irritate it. It helps cell turnover occur, which prevents build up of dead cells. For me, this has dramatically reduced the number of breakouts I get as well as given me smaller looking pores. If you have ultra sensitive or dry skin, you can still use this, but you will need to be gentle and build up your tolerance. Do not physically exfoliate and try using this once a week with a good, thick moisturizer after. If you’re normal/oily, just be sure not to over exfoliate when using, such as using too often or brushing with a clairasonic the next morning. This product works beautifully mixed with their other (non-exfoliating) facials oils. I love it with the CBD glow!
5. Phoenix Cell Regenerating Facial Oil, 1.7 oz $88
This oil uses rosehip, CoQ10, and chia seed oil to help will firmness, fine lines and hydration. I only used this oil a handful of times because it is not specifically what I need in a face oil. I did enjoy the feel and smell, though and would recommend for someone seeking potent anti-aging with a boost of hydration.
6. Jasmine Glowing Body Oil, 4 oz $44
I’ve been using this oil for around 6 months and most likely will never turn back! It smells incredible-light and floral. With a base of fractionated coconut oil, the camellia flower, grapeseed oil and jasmine blend make you feel so luxurious! I use this after I shave and it prevents itchy, irritated skin that commonly occurs with other cheaper lotions. This oil makes my skin feel like silk and is totally worth the price. If you don’t deal with dryness or irritation, you probably don’t need to spend this much, but you won’t be disappointed if you do choose to try it out!
Lastly, Herbivore offers what they call the Jewel Box, which features 3 oils and 2 active serums in miniature sizes! For only $58 you can try Prism, Bakuchiol, Phoenix, Lapis and the Emerald Glow oil (without CBD)! It is a great way to sample the oils, mix and match, and determine what you like the best for your skin.
Herbivore also has a range of body scrubs, some facial sprays, face masks and moisturizers. They also sell their oils in kits with jade rollers and gua sha tools! I feel like although I have not tried everything from the brand, I can feel confident in promoting and continuing to purchase from Herbivore. I have enjoyed every product I have tried from them, and several have truly changed my skin! I plan on trying more products in the future!
I also enjoy purchasing a clean beauty brand that utilizes botanicals to curate potent and nourishing skincare. And the bottles are just so pretty sitting on your counter!
