It’s 2022…I think we all can agree our passion for skincare is only increasing. I love seeing what ingredients become more and more popular in new skincare launches! The hot new ingredient seems to be Ceramides, which is a trend I can really get behind. Let’s go through ceramides skin care benefits and all the ceramide skincare products worthy of your routine!
What Are Ceramides In Skincare?
Ceramides are fats naturally found in the skin! Our skin functions to keep the good stuff in, like the all important hydration. Ceramides work like glue between the skin cells to prevent water loss and keep the skin barrier healthy. Over time, and through things like sun exposure, we start to lose the amount of ceramides in the skin.
Since the natural ceramides in our skin decrease over time, we can supplement with the proper skincare products. Ceramides have started to pop up in numerous products in our routine, so-good news-you don’t have to get just one type of ceramide skincare product.
Who should use Ceramides In Skincare?
Because ceramides are found naturally in the skin, everyone can benefit from using them in their routine. I especially recommend them for dry, sensitive types or those who have damaged the skin barrier from over exoliation, sun exposure, etc. If you are acne prone, this can also be a great ingredient to strengthen the skin and help prevent bacteria from entering.
Ceramide Skincare Products
You can find ceramide skincare products at all price points. Here are some of my personal favorites to check out based on your skin type/preferences:
Cleansers-
ANY of the Cerave Cleansers
Cerave makes ceramides the real star to their entire line, so naturally I recommend their products. I love their cleansers the most! They’re gentle, affordable and accessible. The Hydrating Cream-To-Foam is my all time favorite.
La Roche-Posay Hydrating Cleanser
This is perfect for a daily gentle cleanser option. It has a milky texture that leaves the skin soft and hydrated. It comes in a large bottle that really lasts!
Toners-
Dr. Jart Ceramidin Liquid Moisturizing Toner
The entire Dr. Jart Ceramidin line is perfect for soothing the skin and supporting the natural moisture barrier. This toner is a stand-out and can be incorporated easily before any serums/moisturizer in your daily routine.
Serums-
Cocokind Ceramide Barrier Serum
Cocokind is such a lovely brand! It is also super easy to pick up on your next Target run. The key ingredients include a blend of 5 key ceramides to restore healthy structure and function of the skin.
Glow Recipe Avocado Ceramide Recovery Serum
Another fabulous serum but this one does come at a higher price point. I always enjoy the cute packaging from Glow Recipe and their formulas are top notch. This incorporates avocado butter and extract along with ceramide 5.
A wonderful drugstore option that really feels luxury! It comes in pretty, blue packaging that is totally eye-catching on your skincare shelf. The key ingredients include squalane and glycerin along with the star ceramides to boost the skin barrier.
Moisturizers/Sunscreens-
Ghost Democracy Cocoon Replenishing Ceramide Rich Cream
I recently received a lovely PR package from Ghost democracy and opened up this moisturizer right away. It definitely fits the description of rich cream, but it melts into the skin like butter. My face always looks so healthy and glowy the next morning!
Farmacy Honey Halo Ultra-Hydrating Ceramide Moisturizer
This moisturizer from Farmacy is a cult favorite! Definitely another pricier option, but you can catch it on sale through their website quite often. This creamy formula uses ingredients like buckwheat honey with propolis along with a potent ceramide blend.
Naturium Plant Ceramide Rich Cream
If you are looking for an ultra-hydrating rich cream for your dry skin- look no further! This feels so wonderful to soothe rough, dry patches and help transform the skin barrier. I love Naturium products and you can pick them up at Target.
La Roche-Posay Toleraine Double Repair UV Moisturizer SPF 30
A wonderful sunscreen/moisturizer in one that is perfect for many skin types. It is moisturizing without being greasy or heavy. You can find La Roche-Posay at drugstores, target and ulta!
Facial Oils-
Kinship Oat Ceramide Relief Oil
I am obsessed with this facial oil! I use it as the last step in my PM routine. It is so soothing and definitely has kept my skin healthy, glowing and hydrated with its use of oat based ceramides.
Pacifica is a wonderful drugstore brand that is super accessible. I love that this is a vegan formula that incorporates numerous plant oils for glowing skin. You can use this AM or PM depending on your skin type!
