The New Anti-hauls?? De-influencing on Skincare

Over consumption is not only a lifestyle for some, but also viewed as trendy online. We are all convinced to buy something because we saw it on TikTok, right? Luckily, a new trend has taken over: de-influencing. Let’s go through some of the newest skincare launches that I suggest skipping.

Benefit Pore Care Line

Benefit has been known for their brow products for years, but they have never really broken into the skincare category until recently. With a line-up of 13 products (inlcuding value sets and minis) and a price range of $15-$44, it’s a pretty basic start-up skincare routine. I like their marketing in that it targets clean and healthy pores- but ultimately there isn’t anything particularly special about it. And in 2023…I need special!

The packaging design itself feels outdated and you can definitely already find these products on the shelf for a lower price. Unless you’re a true Benefit Stan, which I don’t think has existed since 2015, I would pass.

Mac Skincare

Mac’s new Hyper Real line is marketed as “hyper performance skincare”. Including a serum, cream and cleansing oil these products are definitely pretty and aesthetic. But, you will have to drop around $50 to try any of it. I am not a hater of luxury skincare though- I enjoy plenty of pricey products. But Mac is a brand along with Benefit that I think is out of touch with the current beauty industry.

If I am going to spend over $30 on a product, it won’t be these.

Tree Hut Face Scrub

Tree Hut body scrubs are one of the best affordable body products there is. I love all the delicious scents! They should just stick to body care, though. These are pretty and have nice scents too which will definitely reel people in.

If you want a face scrub, they might work for your skin type. However, I see these as being super trendy online and everyone over doing it! Read my blog on exfoliating sensitive skin to see what is best for you.

N°1 DE CHANEL Revitalizing Serum

Another luxury product that has a gorgeous aesthetic, but not much else going for it. I have seen quite a few positive reviews for Chanel skincare that definitely influences me, but for over $100- it can’t be worth it. There aren’t that many ingredients worth noting so you’re only really paying for the brand.

Makeup Forever Gentle Eye Gel Waterproof Eye & Lip Makeup Remover

Another makeup brand launching a skincare product that you should just buy cheaper elsewhere. I enjoy Makeup Forever products, but I don’t need to overspend on their makeup remover.

Make the extra trip to Target and pick up a cheaper alternative that also probably works better! Check out my double cleansing blog for suggestions.
