Many of us only buy beauty and skincare products after they come with a glowing recommendation from someone we trust. For some, that is a friend, family member, youtuber, skincare specialist like me or maybe Allure’s Best of Beauty awards!! Last year, I decided to pick apart their “Best of Skincare” list and point out what not to buy- but let’s switch it up this time. Here’s my list of what to buy from the Allure Best of Beauty 2021 Skincare List!
Check out last year’s blog here
Sunscreens:
Shiseido Clear Skin Sunscreen Stick SPF 50+, $29
0.7 oz purchase here
I absolutely love that Allure included so many sunscreens on their best 2021 skincare winners. This sunscreen stick has been on my wishlist for a long time after seeing many reviews for it on my Instagram.
This is a chemical sunscreen formula that shows up clear on any skin tone. I noticed that most sunscreen sticks tend to work best with normal to dry skin types, but if you are oily you can always just set with a face powder if it feels heavy.
I love how convenient a sunscreen stick is- throw it in your bag and never forget to reapply ever again!
Elta MD UV Restore Tinted Sunscreen SPF 40, $38.50
2 fl oz purchase here
Elta MD makes some of the best sunscreens on the market in my opinion. I love using a tinted version as a substitute for glowy makeup.
This uses physical sunscreen filters including zinc and titanium dioxide mixed with skin loving squalane and ginger root extract. All skin types will enjoy this, but the tint most likely will be the best match for light/medium tones.

Colorescience Sunforgettable Total Protection Brush-on Shield SPF 50, $69
purchase here
Brush-on sunscreen powders are life changing! If you are looking for an easy way to reapply throughout the day, or finish your makeup with added sun protection then look no further.
This formula uses physical UV filters like zinc and titanium dioxide mixed with the hydrating and skin soothing properties of sodium hyaluronate and grape seed extract.
Cleansers:
Cerave Acne Control Cleanser, $14.99 8 fl oz
purchase here
Cerave makes some of my favorite drugstore cleansers. All skin types can find a big bottle of their perfect everyday cleanser without having to spend more than $20.
Overall I really enjoy the Cerave acne line- I currently use their benzoyl peroxide formula when my skin is breaking out. This one, though, uses 2% salicylic acid to clear pimples and help prevent future ones from popping up.
All of Cerave’s formulas use a blend of 3 essential ceramides to work at protecting the skin’s natural moisture barrier. Remember to use a hydrating moisturizer in combination with this one- even on acneic skin- to avoid stripping the skin.
Garnier Green Labs Pinea-C Brightening Gel Cleanser, $8 4.4 fl oz
purchase here
I love the affordability of the Garnier Green Labs line. I fell in love with their Canna-B Sunscreen formula a while back, and still need to check out their cleansers. I have seen several of my Skinsta friends raving about these.
This cleanser formula uses vitamin c and pineapple to help brighten dull skin. A gel cleanser can be used by all skin types, but I think that people with oily skin will especially love this formula.
Moisturizer
Dr. Jart+ Cicapair Tiger Grass Sleepair Intensive Mask, $39 3.38 fl oz
purchase here
This entire Dr. Jart line is really wonderful for sensitive skin types. By using the key ingredient of centella asiatica, it soothes redness and calms any inflammation.
This unique formula works as a sleeping mask by applying a thin layer before bed and washing off to reveal refreshed, hydrated skin the next morning. It is a pretty large jar that will last you quite awhile!
& More
Finishing Touch Flawless Hair Remover, $19.99
purchase here
Listen- this little face shaver has saved my life. As I have mentioned in a previous blog, I has PCOS. This endocrine disorder causes hirsutism which leaves me with plenty of unwanted facial hair that I don’t have time to deal with. This does not hurt at all on my coarse hair and removes it instantly! It is far better than any other face shaver I have used before and is rather durable.
You don’t need to have lots of excess hair to find good use of this, though. It easily removes light, blonde hairs too if you do wish to remove any facial hair.
I Dew Care Straight Chillin’ Pack of 30 Cooling Aloe Sheet Masks, $29
purchase here
Sheet masks are really nice to use when you want a quick self-care moment or a refresher for the skin.
The packaging is so unique for these. You get 30 sheet masks, conveniently placed in a little tub with tweezers to easily grab them. How’s that for easy access?
The ingredients include aloe, glacier water, hyaluronic acid, and cucumber. Sounds perfect paired with a jade or ice roller.
Allure Best of Beauty 2021 Skincare Wrap-up
I was really happy with the Allure’s Best of Beauty awards this year. Sunscreen…K-beauty sheet masks…AND affordable cleansers? My favorite things! I definitely am influenced by other people’s beauty favorites and I know so many of you are as well. It makes me happy when Allure recommends some bomb products to fellow skincare enthusiasts and newbies alike to start incorporating into their routine.
So what are you planning on trying? Do you already own any of these products?
