Let’s look at Celebrity Skin Care Routines

Hello everyone! Welcome back to my blog. I realize it has been a while since my last post, but I have just been busier at work than usual (yay!), but also I missed writing and couldn’t wait to get back to it.

For today’s topic, I want to have some fun and look at celebrity’s skincare routines. I usually assume that because they have money and access to professionals, that they really know what they’re doing. As we will discuss further, this is not always the case. And a lot of times, their skin care routines are also supplemented with cosmetic procedures or other medical esthetic services. Let’s take a look at what they use, and the order they use them in.

Celebrity Profile #1

Adrienne Houghton- AM Skincare

Adrienne claims to be an avid lover of all beauty products, but has had issues in the past with her sensitive skin. She uses these poducts every morning because they don’t irritate her skin and help to give her a glowing, hydrated complexion.

Steps

1. IS Clinical Face Wash

2. Lancer Method Polish (she mentions a cheaper alternative being the Aveeno Skin Brightening Scrub)

3. French Girl’s Rose Lip Polish and Carmex

4. Caudelie Beauty Elixir

5. Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Moisturizer

6. Glossier Invisible Shield

7. KNC Beauty Eye Patches 15-20 mins, uses chilled Jade roller during this time

8. Olay Eye Gel

Overall, this is a great morning routine! You can tell she is invested in her skincare, and she mentioned many times how she has picked up tips from several skin care professionals. I was so happy to see that she uses an SPF daily. I am definitely interested in trying out some of these products, and would reccommend for those of you with sensitve, dry skin!

Celebrity Profile #2

Bella Thorne- PM Skincare

Bella is a young actress who says she struggled with acne a lot growing up. She claims that her skin “doesn’t look oily, but it is underneath all the dead skin”. She has gotten help from a professional recently who is developing her skincare line with her.

Steps

1. Homemade lemon and sugar scrub

2. DIY mask: honey, coconut oil, cherries

It’s important to remember that Bella Thorne places a high importance on natural vs. chemical, and whether or not we agree with that personally, that is what she chooses. Her scrub is most definitely harsh, and the lemon juice being so acidic makes the skin incredibly susceptible to sun damage. The mask is okay, but not providing enough hydration as she claims she only occasionally uses vitamin E oil after. My main takeaway from this is that since she struggled with acne throughout her teenage years, this made her think most products will cause breakouts. It really depends on composition, but a lot of times natural products can be more of a culprit to this! Bella is only 21 and her actions will not display the consequences on her skin for years to come, so my advice is to find a more gentle, natural cleanser and always wear a moisturizer with SPF.

Celebrity Profile #3

Chris Appleton- PM Skincare

Chris is one of the most coveted hair stylists in Hollywood catering to Jennifer Lopez, Ariana Grande, Kim Kardashian, and many more. He says that the industry causes him to work late, an skincare that refreshes and makes him look awake is a must.

1. Skyn Iceland Face Wash

2. Skyn Iceland Eye Pads

3. Marmur Metamorphosis Repose Serum

4. Drunk Elephant C Tango Eye Cream

5. ViDerm Ultra A Cream

6. Dr. Diamond Diamond Effect Moisturizer mixed with Drunk Elephant D Bronzi Sun Drops

7. Rose Petals Rose Water Spray

I was glad to see a men’s skincare routine, because men’s skin is just as important as women’s! Chris definitely seems to know what he’s doing. He knew why he was using certain products and what they should be dong for his skin. I like that he incorporated serums to combat some pimples he says he gets in his beard. He takes his time with his skin and seems to enjoy the process. I will definitely be checking out some of these!

Celebrity Profile #4

Chantel Jeffries- PM Skincare

Chantel is a DJ who likes to keep her skincare simple but effective. She does a lot of traveling which affects her skin as well.

Steps

1. Makeup wipes

2. Clinique Cleansing Balm

3. Loreal Pure Clay Charcoal Mask in T-Zone

4. St. Ives Apricot Scrub

5. Aerin Rose Night Cream

6. Nars Eye Cream

Overall, this is a decent routine for someone in their 20s. Removing makeup before bed is a must! The Clinique balm does a good job and removing it all. I would assume she doesn’t use the loreal mask every single night, but it is a good addition once a week. I know we have already heard it enough, but I would replace the St.Ives scrub with a more gentle exfoliant based on her skin type. I have heard Chantel say that she uses it because she wants the micro-tears in her skin, so her skin repairs itself and stays renewed. She compared it to micro-needling, as did Bella Thorne with her scrub. Their statement that it is a gentle form of micro-needling is just inaccurate. Micro-needling is very precise, uses a sterile needle at a certain depth to the skin. Again, using the scrub may not look like it is ruining her skin, but could cause issues in the future.

Celebrity Profile #5

Kourtney Kardashian- AM Skincare

Kourtney is a reality TV star and entrepreneur who wants to keep things simple yet effective. She enjoys hydration and a healthy glow.

Steps

1. Homemade purifying mask made with charcoal and honey

2. Homemade lip scrub made with honey, coconut oil, and raw sugar

3. Christie Kidd Fresh Pads

4. Barbara Sturm Hyaluronic Acid Serum

5. Caudelie Beauty Elixir

6. Face Oil (doesn’t say which one)

7. Elta MD Sunscreen

This routine does a good job at clarifying and then rehydrating the skin. I enjoy her use of various hydrating formulas to give her a fresh glow. I am also glad she explained the importance of a daily SPF- I love the one she uses!

I don’t know about you guys…but I enjoyed taking a peak into what these stars do in the morning and evening for their skin. It’s interesting to see if they take influence from pros around them on various sets or photoshoots.

What do you guys think about these routines? Any of the products interest you?

  1. As always, a very informative and fun article to read!!!! It is fun to learn that they do these treatments themselves rather than have someone do it for them every day.
